Editor’s Note – As SUA and many others have been reporting for years, its a matter of numbers. Its not about being a Muslim-in-name-only, or being a moderate Muslim, its always been about the core fundamentalists who drive the so-called religion of peace that the world must worry about. Iran, ‘saying what they mean, and meaning what they’, say is the crux of the matter. Ahmadinejad and Ayatollah Khamenei are striving as the Chess Masters, pulling the strings of their puppets, to create the very confusion and chaos they seek, the precursor of the coming of the Mahdi.
Additionally, always remember that fundamentalist Muslims believe, and believe strongly in the two worlds: Dar al-Harb and Dar al-Islam, the land of war, and the land of Islam. Islam knows or respects no borders, and wherever a Muslim stands, that is the land of Islam, Dar al-Islam. Being a citizen of a western nation is important only to westerners, not fundamental Muslims.
Officially known as the Basij-e Mostaz’afin, literally meaning “Mobilization of the Oppressed”, Iran is telling us that they plan to be the dominant world force in time, and its quest to create a world-wide Basij of a 100 million Muslim force is not a wild number someone grabbed out of thin air. Our friends at DanielPipes.org tell us the following:
There are between 1.2 and 1.5 billion Muslims in the world. Half are women. While a substantial percentage of Islamic women support jihad, less than one in fifty Islamic terrorist acts is actually perpetrated by a female. That leaves us with a maximum pool of jihadists that is just over 50% of the total population.
The overwhelming preponderance of terrorist acts are conducted by young Muslim men 15 to 30 years old. This age bracket covers about half of the male population of the Islamic world, leaving us with a potential jihad pool of 25% of all Muslims – approximately 300 million people.
The entire world has something in the neighborhood of 70 million men in uniform of one form or another according to Wikipedia, and even if these numbers are not totally accurate, they do paint a picture of the overall scope. Of course that includes nations such as North Korea who brag at having almost 10 million in uniform, and its southern neighbor reaching over 8 million. Then you have the Muslim nations such as Pakistan with over 1.4 million, Iran itself at 3.8 million, Turkey at 1.1 million, and Egypt at 1.3 million, a nation ucrrently in total disarray, especially again as riots broke out over the impending elections. There are approximately 13 nations who boast of troops exceeding 1 million in uniform.
In comparison then, there is the potential to wildly outnumber the total armed forces of the world, especially when you remove the millions that are unlikely to join the west in any conflagration, at least initially. Professor Sharma also reports at Danial Pipes’ site with the following:
Therefore, based upon the most objective data available to us, at least 60% of all Muslims have the potential to be jihadists by way of their fundamentalist voting patterns. That is to say, Islam has grown substantially closer to its salafi, and thus terrorist, roots over the past decade. It is safe to say that 750 million Muslims are fundamentalists trying to follow Allah’s orders and Muhammad’s example. And as fundamentalists, they are potential jihadists.
If the 60% response levels derived from polling data is an accurate reflection of the current state of Islam, then sex and age criteria further reduce Islamic terrorist candidates down to a maximum of one in every seven Muslims – 25% of 60%. That means that no more than 15% of the total Islamic population of 1.2 to 1.5 billion people has the potential to be a terrorist should the opportunity arise. That equates to a minimum of 180 million potential jihadists and a maximum of 225 million.
Beware of media nullification of the numbers due to political correctness. The Basij is possible, in fact, it is likely to happen, especially if the balance of power tips away from its current edge and falls to a new Middle Eastern hegemonic Iran. You do the math…
Iran Mulling Creation of 100-million-Strong Muslim Basij Army
FARS News Agency (Iran’s News Outlet)
TEHRAN (FNA)- Commander of Iran’s Basij (volunteer) force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi announced on Sunday that Tehran is studying formation of a 100-million-strong Muslim world Basij force.
“We will form the 100-million-strong Basij force of the Muslim world to materialize the promise of the late Imam Khomeini about the freedom of the noble Quds,” Naqdi said.
He underlined that Basij will bravely and steadfastly continue its struggle and fight for the freedom of Quds from the occupation of Zionist regime and to release all mankind from the claws of the world arrogant powers.
Naqdi’s remarks comes against the backdrop the Muslim world’s popular uprisings and revolutions which are similar to what happened in Iran in 1979 under the leadership of the late Imam Khomeini.
Tunisia saw the overthrow of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in a popular revolution in January, which was soon followed by a revolution which toppled Hosni Mubarak in Egypt in February.
Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Libya have since been the scene of protests against their totalitarian rulers, who have resorted to brutal crackdown on demonstrations to silence their critics.
While Libya celebrated the victory of its revolution after the death of the country’s dictator, Muammar Qaddafi, in October, uprisings continue in several other Muslim states.
Regional analysts and officials have underlined that Iran’s Islamic Revolution led by the Late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, is the source of inspiration for the growing tides of Islamic awakening in the region.
Earlier, Ayatollah Khamenei had also underscored the profound and vast influence of Iran’s Islamic Revolution on the growing waves of Islamic awakening in the region.
“Thanks to Islam and Islamic Revolution, a popular and overall Islamic awakening has happened in the region today, which will definitely yield its results as it has already yielded (some of) its results in certain points,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in April.
Analysts believe that Iran’s inspiration on these nations means that they share Iran’s goals and ideals and are, thus, willing to joint such a 100-million-strong force.
