Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely U.S. Army (Ret.) and chairman of Stand Up America, and Van Hipp, Jr., former Deputy Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Army, joined Dennis Michael Lynch of NewsmaxTV to discuss ISIS ramping up killings and how the terrorist group is in a state of emergency.
The United States military would need just three months to defeat the Islamic State if done right, a major general told NewsmaxTV.
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely said during an interview with Dennis Michael Lynch on Newsmax TV’s “Unfiltered” the terror group can be eliminated.
“The best thing you can do, bring some of the retired generals and admirals back on active duty that know how to defeat these unconventional jihadis and I’ll tell you what, I can give you the names and Donald Trump knows these names,” Vallely said. “We could defeat ISIS in 90 days with the right mix of troops and air power and ground operations, along with the Kurds and the Free Syrian Army. It can be done. I know that having been on the ground over there.”
Vallely added that the military wouldn’t necessarily need thousands of boots on the ground, either.
“It’s not a matter of numbers,” he said. “They keep talking about numbers. As [fellow panel member Van Hipp, Jr.] knows, it’s the Joint Strike Force capability of raids, use of Special Operations forces, good intelligence, and good targeting. And just like we took to the Taliban, al-Qaida in the fall of 2001, in 31 days with 100 men and air power.
“So this can be done, but you have to have the right minds, the right strategy and tactics and right positioning of our forces to do that and it can be done in a short period of time. Don’t let anybody tell you differently.”
