In 1960 the USS George Washington SSBN 595 put to sea on its first deterrent patrol. For 65-years the deterrent to anyone launching nuclear weapons against the United States, and allies had been effective. For decades it was referred to as the era of mutual assured destruction. By 1960 the morphing from analog to digital was underway. Digital provided new opportunities including for new ways to conduct warfare. By 1960, the Soviet Union was being successful at stopping the United States from advancing commercial nuclear power. By 1970 the drive by the United Sates was stopped.
Advancing cyber capabilities by the Soviets and Chinese continued with no pushback. No deterrence protecting Americas North American grid and electricity distribution systems to them placing America 100% at risk today. Why?
The DOD was offered the Molten Salt Nuclear Battery for military bases in 2019 for protection and resiliency. It was rejected by a few civilian employees because it was over “105 inches tall.”
Why? Only a few civilian employees know why. Military bases could all be protected today to enjoy continuity of operations, while demonstrating deterrence.

In 2022 the Secretary of Defense along either each of the military Secretaries, along with each flag officer. Once again, but this time all the leaders of the Department of Defense and military leaders failed to even reply therefore ignoring military bases from being protected and enjoying continuity of operations, while exhibiting deterrence.
Why? Was it just that they were appointed by Biden-Harris? Or for some other reason? Now the Department of Defense has put out a request for reactors as though they were not offered them 7-years ago and again 3-years ago.

People with self-serving interests seemingly not caring for resiliency and continuity of operations plus demonstrating deterrence to adversaries conducting unrestricted warfare against America. Seemingly not a care in the world for the military men and women who stand guard and the families supporting them.
