The Second Amendment exists to protect the First Amendment. Democrats don’t like that because its absolute authority hangs like a personal threat to their agenda. They fear that if the white peasants Obama described in his first campaign who “cling to the guns and bibles” were to become angry and do something about it, they could be finished.
Democrats argue that the US Constitution, especially that silly Bill of Rights, is really too simple to be effective in modern times. What does it mean, they ask, when Article II says: “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of the State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed?” That’s pretty explicit but Democrats argue that a well-regulated militia should mean National Guard units in every state but, when the Constitution was written there were no National Guard units, only “Minute Men” types of militias. Were they well organized? Apparently, because George Washington organized them into an army that beat the British. But well acquainted with European governments, the founding fathers were well aware of the danger of an organized army unfettered by prohibitions doing what their leadership told them to do. Therefore, the Founding fathers created an army with civilian control. That’s why the Posse Committees was enacted.
America, off and on, has experienced various types of “militias” like Sheriffs possess, when armed civilians were temporarily deputized to act in the name of the law. When that didn’t work, vigilante groups often formed up not necessarily to support the rule of law but to bring quick “justice” to a community where law and order had been abandoned by corrupt officials. The threat of apprehension and punishment of evil doers was necessary to retain peace in a community. Vigilante groups often did include a judge if only to validate what the unsworn civilians were going to do and try to keep it within the bounds of law. We don’t see possess much anymore except in movies but vigilantism of sorts, has reestablished itself. When we see, read or hear about a terrorist attack on a church, school or synagogue l, perpetrated by an individual or a group who hates the community and the cultural “Status Quo,” apart from an act of Sedition, we are witnessing an act of Vigilantism with guns instead of hangings. Following the American Civil War and the Reconstruction Era, the Ku Klux Klan created a time of murderous vigilantism that was demonstrably unlawful. But today, can all acts of vigilantism be deemed unlawful acts of terrorism or treated as such?
When I was federal agent, I recall reading a Florida newspaper account once back in the 1970’s that reported that families in a black neighborhood had finally had it with a violent group of black hoodlums who occupied an abandoned house from which they conducted a brisk drug service as well as creating noise and chaos on their streets. The article noted the community had repeatedly asked local police to do something about it and nothing did so, a group of black fathers armed themselves as vigilantes, surrounded the structure driving all the hoodlums inside then set fire to it, shooting anyone who tried to run out. End of problem! After that initial report there was no outcry nor any follow up news. Apparently that problem, solved to everybody’s satisfaction, was simply allowed to disappeared!
Twenty states and Puerto Rico, have developed State Defense Forces (SDF’s), state-authorized all volunteer military units distinct from the National Guard, that operate solely under the authority of the state’s governor. They are mostly filled by retired law enforcement and military personnel and may include naval militia units as well. Their purpose supposedly, focuses on emergency management and disaster response but, we have FEMA for that. These militias are organized under state law authorized by federal law (32 U.S.C. § 109). They are not funded by the federal government and they are not authorized to be armed. They perfectly fit the Democrats definition of how they see Art. II of the Bill of Rights.
But we must return to the issue of Firearms. The Colonial Era Minute Men had black powder muzzle loading muskets. The Democrats would be okay with that so long as their side had modern cartridge weapons to defend themselves from bible thumping, muzzle loading peasant wackos. So far, the Dems have gotten beat down every time they try to seize, stop, or stymie someone with a gun, except criminals.
It’s sad to realize how un-American the Democrat Party has become. Failure to even want to fund the Dept. of Homeland Security, especially ICE busy rounding up thousands of illegals starting with known felons and cartel members, you know, those same illegals Democrat DAs released back onto American streets, is ruining their plans to achieve population parity for Congressional seats determined by census counts. Before and since the Congressional Democrats “nay” vote to refund DHS, four deadly attacks against Americans were conducted by rogue Islamic Jihadists against a Synagog, an ROTC college classroom and a couple of yahoos who couldn’t explode a homemade grenade they threw at a group of MAGA supporters. We’re at war folks. They started it and should pay for their deeds, including the Democrat party for making it happen. The Democrat party is Americas most dangerous internal enemy, Fifth Columnists determined to make America a Socialist utopia or destroy it.
Remember, freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, get ready. They are coming for us!
